Handing Off T1D Responsibility: Through the Ages & Stages

Letting go of parts of Type 1 Diabetes care is one of the hardest — and most emotional — parts of parenting a child with T1D. You want to build independence and confidence, but the fear, uncertainty, and “what ifs” can make it feel overwhelming to know when and how to step back.

This masterclass is designed to walk you through what handing off T1D responsibility can realistically look like at every stage of childhood — from early elementary years through the teen and young adult years. We’ll talk honestly about what skills matter most at different ages, how to gradually shift responsibilities without burning out your child (or yourself), and how to support independence while still keeping safety front and center.

Led by Emily (CDCES, T1D & T1D toddler Mom) and Ethan (Dad to a T1D tween)
